For convenience, this page lists key data tables available for download from the Statistics website. This includes the tables from Forestry Statistics 2020, as well as longer time series data.
Forestry Statistics 2020 - Excel tables
All tables from Forestry Statistics 2020 are available to download in Excel or ODS (OpenDocument Spreadsheet) format.
The tables are grouped into one spreadsheet for each chapter:

Woodland statistics
New planting and restocking for 1976 to 2020: Excel/ ODS. The data are broken down by:
- England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, GB and UK;
- New planting, restocking and total planting;
- Conifers and broadleaves;
- Forestry England/Forestry and Land Scotland/Natural Resources Wales/Forest Service (FE/FLS/NRW/FS) and Private sector.
Certified woodland areas for 2001 to 2020: Excel/ ODS. The data are broken down by:
- England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, GB and UK;
- Forestry England/Forestry and Land Scotland/Natural Resources Wales/Forest Service (FE/FLS/NRW/FS) and Private sector.
Timber statistics
Longer time series data to 2019 (final figures) are available in Excel and ODS (OpenDocument Spreadsheet) formats as follows;
Wood production (roundwood removals): Excel/ ODS
The data are broken down by:
- England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, GB and UK;
- Softwood and hardwood;
- Forestry England/ Forestry and Land Scotland/ Natural Resources Wales/ Forest Service (FE/FLS/NRW/FS) and private sector.
UK roundwood deliveries: Excel/ ODS The data cover softwood deliveries and hardwood deliveries.
UK sawmills: Excel/ ODS The data cover number of mills, consumption of softwood and production of sawn softwood and are broken down by:
- England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and UK;
- Size of mill;
- In addition, time series data by region are available for sawmills in England: Excel/ ODS.
UK round fencing manufacturers: Excel/ ODS The data cover number of manufacturers and softwood consumption and are broken down by:
- England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and UK;
- Size of mill;
- Source of softwood (UK grown/Imported).
Timber price indices
Longer time series for periods ending March 1985 to September 2020 are available as follows:
Coniferous Standing Sales Price Index for overlapping 12 month periods: Excel/ ODS. The data also give underlying figures for volumes, total prices and average prices by average tree size in Great Britain.
