About Alistair MacLeod
Alistair left Newton Rigg Forestry College with a Forestry OND in 1984. He joined the Forestry Commission later that year as a forester based at Piel Wyke in North Lakes Forest District. Alistair left the Lake District in 1989 for a specialist tour with Forest Research in the then Silviculture Division based at Newton in North Scotland.
What Alistair does
Field Station Manager, Technical Services Unit
Responsible for managing:
- Teams of Research Workers at Newton and Lairg field stations
- Field survey teams across Scotland working on the Native Woodland Survey for Scotland
- Seed Stand inspections across North Scotland covered by the Forest Reproductive Materials Regulations (FRM)
- All Forest Research field experiments across the field station area.
TSU provide a wide range of advice and support services to the forestry and environmental sectors as well as scientific staff within Forest Research.
