Assessment of Genetic Diversity and Population Structure in Welsh and Scottish Aspen (Populus tremula) Using Microsatellite DNA Markers

This report presents the results of genetic analyses conducted on native aspen (Populus tremula) sampled from multiple sites in Wales and Scotland. Although the samples were collected independently for conservation-focused projects, the datasets have been integrated to facilitate assessment of genetic diversity and population structure across a broader geographic range than would be possible within individual studies. This is the first study to investigate Welsh aspen genetic diversity.
