Capturing the perspectives of members of the public on topics such as woodland creation, expansion, management, and maintenance is important if future woodlands are to be spaces that the public want to access and use. This research aimed to capture the views of people not ordinarily engaged in greenspace activities and who were not regular visitors to local woodlands. Findings from three woodland walk discussion groups elicited thoughts about a wide range of topics, including access and accessibility, woodland maintenance, woods for wildlife and climate change, conflicting land uses, memories from childhood and sensory reactions to woodland environments.
