EU Exit and tree and forestry pests and diseases
As of 1 January 2021, Great Britain trades with the EU as a Third Country, while Northern Ireland’s trade with the EU is subject to the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Traders and others involved in moving plants, seeds, wood, wood products and related materials can visit the UK Government website for:
- general guidance on the new trading arrangements (the Border Operating Model); and
- specific guidance on the new trading arrangements for importing and exporting plants and plant products.
Detailed explanation of plant health regulations for England and Wales continues to be available on the UK Government website for:
- imports, exports and inland movements of timber, wood and wood products, including firewood, or from the Forestry Commission’s Cross-Border Plant Health Service; and
- imports, exports and inland movements of plants, seeds, cuttings and other plant reproductive materials, including forestry planting materials, or from the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA).
