BSc, MSc, PhD
Wilmer has joined FR as a spatial scientist in October 2023. His research will contribute to the delivery of evidence-based spatial tools that help policymakers, forest managers and planners understand how climate change or land use changes might influence the biodiversity, resilience, and ecosystem services of woodland landscapes.
He obtained his PhD in paleoecology from the University of St Andrews. For his PhD research he used fossil pollen data and spatial models to reconstruct Icelandic landscapes of the past. His research investigated the role humans played in the rapid and widespread deforestation of the island in the decades after the first humans arrived.
