Leading a team of around 45 staff he is responsible for the strategic direction of the IFOS service and for ensuring sound financial and people management.
A graduate of the Scottish School of Forestry, Nicol joined the Forestry Commission in 1990 and has worked across Great Britain in a variety of operational and strategic roles. Nicol has had a long association with Forest Research and IFOS in particular working collaboratively on areas such as the development of the Forester Geographic Information System and on Production Forecasting.
