Job description

Mark trained as a Forester at Bangor University obtaining his BSc and MSc Degrees. After graduating he worked for the Forest Research Institute of Malawi (FRIM), initially as the Head of the Mensuration Section and then as a Professional Officer within the Indigenous Woodland Management Section.

Following this he moved to Guyana to carry out surveying and tropical forest research on behalf of the Edinburgh Centre for Tropical Forests. Upon returning to the UK, he worked for the National School of Forestry, Newton Rigg (now the University of Cumbria) as a Senior Lecturer in Forestry, specialising in mensuration and surveys and managing National Diploma, Higher National Diploma and BSc Forestry courses.

After 6 years he moved to Forest Research working on the National Forest Inventory of Great Britan for the Inventory Forecasting and Operational Support unit. He returned to training staff in 2022 and has continued since.

Biography

Mark has worked in the Government, Private and Sectors in mainly forestry surveying roles. He has worked overseas in Malawi and Guyana on a number of surveying projects and was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire before moving to Forest Research in 2005 to work on the National Forest inventory of Great Britain (NFI).
