About J. Alberto Morales

Alberto gained a degree in Chemistry, specialising in Analytical Chemistry, from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in 1994. His PhD on “New Contributions to Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy: Gaseous Sample Introduction for Silicon Analysis and Semi-quantitative Multi-element Determination using Simultaneous Detectors” was awarded by the same university in 2000.

He worked as a Research Fellow at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands), as Assistant Lecturer at the University of Zaragoza (Spain), as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland) and as a Senior Analyst at TMS Environment (Dublin, Ireland).

He joined Forest Research in November 2005.

  • Spectroscopic analytical chemistry
  • Environmental analysis

What J. Alberto does

Analytical Chemist

Sample preparation, extractions and analysis of water, soil, foliar and other samples within the Chemical Analysis Laboratory. Analysis of major elements, nutrients and heavy metals by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). Acid digestions using Microwave reaction system. Also using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), C/N analyzer and Ion Chromatography.
