Elizabeth joined Forest Research in November 2024. She is currently working on a range of social science research projects including climate change adaptation in woodland management, design of a tree establishment monitoring app, and behavioural analysis of potential consumer adoption of a biosecurity certification scheme.

Elizabeth has a background specialism in social sustainability and human rights and enjoys working at the intersections between ecological and social justice.

Before joining Forest Research, Elizabeth worked in the energy sector. Previously, she worked for a national energy charity, managing social science research projects on low carbon technologies and domestic energy. She also worked for a global oil and gas association, where she convened expert forums and guidance creation around topics related to sustainability and human rights across the energy transition.

Elizabeth’s experience in environmental social science began when she completed a Master of Research (MRes) in Sustainable Futures at the University of Bath, where she researched the relationship between connection to nature, the ecological emergency and pro-environmental behaviours. She also has an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where her dissertation focused on the gendered policy discourse between human rights and climate change.

She has a First Class BA (Hons) in Anthropology (with year abroad) from Durham University, where her dissertation focused on the Indigenous land rights and ways of knowing of the Maya peoples of southern Belize.
