About Christine Wilson
Christine started out in cytogenetic and molecular genetic diagnostics and research for the NHS and Breast Cancer charities but then moved into Science and Technology leadership roles. This has included managing Cat 3 facilities for Rabies diagnostics and research to managing a large MOD outdoor trials and evaluation site.
More recently Christine has been in senior corporate roles for the MOD planning its Science & Technology spend and helping create a sustainable vision for the future which fits with the governments vision of the UK being a great scientific power. Christine has a degree in Zoology and a PhD in Entomological cytogenetics from Royal Holloway University of London.
What Christine does
Provides management and strategic leadership to the Centre for Forest Protection which comprises ~100 staff and 5 Science Groups. The role is to ensure that the Centre aligns with the strategic direction of Forest Research, delivering excellent science and providing data and input to Government for inclusion in policy decisions, in addition to responding to potential threats and risks. Delivering relevant, high-quality applied research, outbreak diagnostics and surveillance work on time and to budget enables our funders and customers to effectively utilise data, to deliver environmental, societal and financial benefits.
