Ecosystem service provision by urban trees: informing species selection

Home research i-Tree Eco i-Tree science Ecosystem service provision by urban trees: informing species selection

This work draws together reports comparing ecosystem service delivery by small, medium and large stature urban trees. This work enables the selection of tree species and stature for provision of four ecosystem services:

  • carbon storage
  • avoided runoff
  • pollution removal
  • amenity (CAVAT) value

Research objectives

This project aimed to inform species selection for urban tree planting programmes by examining ecosystem service provision by different species and size of tree commonly found in UK urban forests.
