This Leaflet describes briefly the effects of blue stain on the wood of coniferous trees. Its main purpose is to suggest harvesting, sawing and drying practices which should be employed to minimise those effects, at least until such time as further research on alternative (chemical) treatments is advanced far enough for improved practices to be recommended. The Leaflet also discusses the research and educational aspects of the problem of minimising the effects of blue stain.
