About Liz Richardson
Liz joined the Forestry Commission in 1985 as a YTS Student in Dorset whilst attending Holme Lacey College to gain Cities & Guild phase 1 in Forestry. She progressed to the felling Squad in Peninsula before attending the Scottish School of Forestry in 1989, including a mid-year in North Wales with EFG. After qualifying she went back to Dorset Forest District as an H&M Forester and moved to Surveys Branch in 1994. She moved from Cambridge to Fineshade when Surveys Branch merged with TSU and became Field Station Manager in 2006.
What Liz does
Field Station Manager, Technical Services Unit
Responsible for managing:
- Teams of research workers at Wykeham and Thetford
- Fieldwork, assessments and experiments on behalf of project leaders across field station area
- Responsible also for all mensuration and crop survey work across England and Wales
TSU provide a wide range of advice and support services to the forestry and environmental sectors as well as scientific staff within Forest Research.
