About Carolyn Riddell

Carolyn Riddell joined Forest Research in 2016. Previously, she obtained a PhD at the University of Leicester (2009) in evolutionary biology and subsequently completed a post-doctoral position at the University of Edinburgh (2010-2012), validating next-generation sequencing data. After a period working at Edinburgh Genomics (2012-2014) she took up another role on the PROTREE project (2014-2016), where she worked on Dothistroma septosporum evolution in pine species, in conjunction with the University of Edinburgh and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC), Edinburgh.

What Carolyn does

Carolyn manages the Forest Research Quality Management System underpinning work and research activities for our customers. She also undertakes work as part of team managing ISO17025 accreditation and ORETO certification.

  • Developing methods to determine the mechanisms of spread of P. austrocedri from outbreaks throughout Scotland.
