Lewis started at Forest Research in September 2023 and is a research assistant working under Dr Anna Harris on projects involving Phytophthora pluvialis, Phytophthora pseudosyringae, and Phytophthora ramorum.

In 2022, Lewis obtained a BSc in Biology from the University of Bath, with a final project examining the effects of nitrogen starvation on toxin gene production in Fusarium graminearum. He then attended the University of Exeter, obtaining an MSc in Infectious Disease and Microbiology, with a project focused on the effects of environmental stress on Zymoseptoria tritici survival.
