Summary

Two decades ago, the newly created Borders Forest Trust launched Carrifran Wildwood, the first major woodland restoration scheme in the Southern Uplands.  In 1997, at the start of the the planning phase, Adrian Newton and Philip Ashmole ran a landmark conference under the title of this seminar.  Now is a good time to review the principles and practice, and to take a look at where we stand now.

The small print

Talks last 40 - 45 minutes with 15-20 minutes for questions and discussion, and are followed by tea and coffee.

FR colleagues can also view and add calendar entries with details of each seminar by adding ‘FR Seminars (NRS)’ to your list of calendars in Outlook.

If you are not normally based at NRS please let Evelyn.Hall@forestresearch.gov.uk know in advance if you would like to join us, so that we have an idea about the number of people likely to attend.

Missed it and would like to catch up? Please get in touch with us at seminars.nrs@forestresearch.gov.uk.

Skype instructions

We are now trialling use of Skype for Business for remote access to the seminars. If you do not have Skype for Business, please test the Skype link well before the seminar begins. You may need to download the Skype for Business Web App (you won’t need to set up an account or pay anything – you can join as a guest). Please see Skype’s webpages for more information.

On the day, please make sure your mic is muted! You may need to select ‘presenter view’ to see the slides change automatically.

Unfortunately, if IT restrictions at your organisation prevent you from joining, you may not be able to access the seminar live. In this case, please contact as at seminars.nrs@forestresearch.gov.uk and we’ll send a recording with the presenter’s permission.
