A day long CPD event run by The Landscape Institute looking at the global picture of natural capital thinking. Hear how professionals and businesses can influence positive change across different scales during a day of discussion, exchange and collaboration.

Forest Research’s Kieron Doick will present a session focussed on thinking about and understanding trees as core urban infrastructure. Emphasis will be placed on the ‘urban forest’ with all of its various components and recognition that different tree species and trees in different locations contribute benefits differently to urban society.

Participants will be introduced to the different ways of thinking about ‘value’ and gain knowledge that will support them in identifying and promoting urban trees as assets, which should be managed and maintained so that their value and contribution to society increases with time.

The session will feature the valuation tools i-Tree Eco and CAVAT, and explore how their application can be used to inform natural capital accounts. The findings of latest research on attitudes to novel payments for urban trees will also be shared.
