A Statistical Support Officer role; to support the Forest Information and Statistics team in the timely, reliable and accurate delivery of Forest Research’s (FR) official and national statistics.

The Forest Information and Statistics team is a multi-disciplinary team including statisticians, data scientists, spatial analysts and others. They contribute to policy development, monitoring and evaluation of sustainable forest management by providing statistical information, analysis and advice to stakeholders. The Forest Information and Statistics team sits within the wider Centre for Inventory, Forecasting and Operational Support (IFOS).

The purpose of the Statistical Support Officer role is to support the Forest Information and Statistics team in the timely, reliable and accurate delivery of FR’s official and national statistics. This will involve supporting the team on a wide range of tasks; such as collection of forestry data to design and preparation of surveys. The post holder will also be responsible for maintaining smooth operation of all statistics work; through monitoring of customer queries to publishing statistical and technical reports.

Key work areas will be: official and national Statistics, statistical support activities and corporate compliance.

This role is based at our Northern Research station in Roslin, Midlothian, EH25 9SY. Blended working gives the option to work some of the week from home, and some from the workplace.
