Whinlatter Forest Park

Whinlatter Forest Park offers a wide range of activities for all the family with a network of waymarked walking trails, The Altura Trail for mountain bikers and Go Ape as well as orientieering courses, adventure playground, childrens trails, forest shop & exhibition and Siskins Cafe. Autumn is a superb month to visit Whinlatter. Views from the forest across the northern Lake District fells are dramatic and awe inspiring. Within the forest larch and broadleaf trees change colour adding to the unique character of England's only mountain forest.

Keswick is the nearest town or village.

Take the A66 west towards Cockermouth. At Braithwaite turn west onto the B5292 for Lorton. Follow Visitor Centre Sign Posts.

Nearest station is Penrith (25 miles east) on the west coast mainline.

The visitor centre and Siskins cafe are open as normal 10am -5pm Mon to Sun. Go-Ape has opened and for more information and bookings call 0845 643 9215
