What is the event?
Conference to explore the technical uses of Lidar in woodlands and consider the application of Lidar in mapping, heritage and forest management. Case studies in the historic forests of Wyre, Dean and Saversnake will be used to demonstrate how this methodology is being employed to show the development of past landscapes.
The conference speakers are at the forefront of the application of Lidar techniques and include Forest Research scientist Peter Crow who will speak on technical specifications and limitations of Lidar technology.

Tim Yarnell, Historic Environment Advisor, Forestry Commission England - Using lidar to focus research in extensive areas of woodland – Forest of Dean project
Jon Hoyle, Senior Project Officer, Gloucestershire County Council, Archaeology Service - Practical applications for woodland management
Ben Lennon, Planning and Environment Manager, Forestry Commission
The event will be Chaired by Jan Wills, County Archaeologist, Gloucestershire County Council.
