Technical development
Technical development evaluates and develops forestry methods and machinery for greater efficiency, improved ergonomics and safety and reduced environmental impact. Topics range from farm and small scale woodland operations to large scale upland forestry.
This work is perfomed by foresters on tours of specialist duty, together with support staff. The foresters are trained work study practitioners. ProgrammesTechnical development contribute to research programmes within: Individual programmes include: ServicesTechnical Development Services perform a wide range of evaluation and development work on forestry and associated operations both for the Forestry Commission and for external agencies and organisations on a contract basis.
