Silvilaser 2008: 8th international conference on LiDAR applications in forest assessment and inventory

17^th to 19^th September 2008

What is Silvilaser 2008?

SilviLaser 2008 aims to bring together research scientists and practitioners from around the world to share their experience in the development and application of LiDAR for forest assessment and inventory. The conference will focus on:

Forestry applications and inventory
Forest monitoring and change detection
Ecological applications and habitat mapping
LiDAR data fusion (ground-based, airborne, satellite)
Data fusion (in-situ, aerial photos, hyper-spectral)
Algorithm and techniques development
System and intensity calibration
Large-scale and operation applications of LiDAR
New technologies.

There will be a special session on ecological applications for forest habitat assessment, sponsored by the British Ecological Society.

Conference programme

There will also be a pre-conference workshop on 17^th September 2008.

Keynote speakers at the main conference will be:

Professor Ralph Dubayah (University of Maryland)
Professor Richard Lucas (University of Wales Aberystwyth)

and Dr Wesley Newton (USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center) for the special session on ecological applications for forest habitat assessment.
