National Social Forestry Conference
14th to 15th September 2006 What was the event?The conference was aimed at those developing the field of social forestry and allotment regeneration projects, including community groups and voluntary organisations. The conference was also relevant to those who are dealing with environment, health and regeneration issues. The conference provided an update on how the Big Lottery Fund - Transforming Your Space projects have progressed in Kirklees, which include "Community Allotments for Health and Well-being", River Corridor Greenways" and "A World in Your Pocket". Liz O'Brien of Forest Research gave the keynote address entitled 'Social Science in Forestry: Developing our understanding of the contribution of trees and woodlands to people's lives'.
