Modelling and forecasting timber yield and quality in Europe (MEFYQUE)
 

Summary

By increasing understanding of the relationships between site conditions and growth, yield and timber quality for current and future scenarios of atmospheric change, the forecasting system focuses on the provision of renewable resources, the environment and in particular the role of forestry in the carbon cycle.

Research objectives

The principal deliverable of the MEFYQUE project is an integrated modelling system that will assist forest managers, the timber industry and policy makers to decide whether forests management should be primarily for production, conservation or amenity outputs, within the context of multi-purpose forest management.
