Sam Evans, UDip, BA, MA (Cantab), PhD, PhD
On secondment to Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra)Professor Sam Evans studied at Clare College, University of Cambridge where he gained a BA(Hons) and an MA in Archaeology and Anthropology Tripos. He was awarded a PhD in Environmental Sciences in 1989 and a second PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Ecology of Pesticides in 1994 from MURST, Italy. He holds post-graduate qualifications in Vegetation Dynamics (University of Pavia, Italy) and in Environmental Sciences: Pesticides (Catholic University of the Holy Heart, Milan, Italy), as well as a University Diploma in Modern Languages (Italian) from the University of Westminster (2001). A past NATO Senior Research Fellow, EU Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and BBSRC David Phillips Post-Doctoral Fellow, has held Senior Research Fellow positions with Academic Status (Lecturer B) at Cranfield University and Royal Holloway and New Bedford College, University of London, UK. He moved to Forest Research in 1998 as a programme leader, became Head of Mensuration Branch in 2001. He was appointed Head of Biometrics Division in June 2004.
