Joanne Davies, BSc
Publications Manager/Editor, Communications GroupJoanne obtained a BSc (Hons) in Physics (with French) from the University of Reading. She started a career in scientific publishing as Editor of an engineering journal for the Institution of Electrical Engineers (now the Institution of Engineering and Technology). She then moved to the Met Office for four years, where she worked as Editor of a wide variety of published materials, both technical and non-technical. Her role included many aspects of publishing and production, including branding, visual identity, and work on ISO quality assurance procedures. Joanne later moved to Cable & Wireless as a Writer before joining Forest Research as Publications Manager/Editor in April 2006. Current rolePublications Manager/Editor, Communications Group. Responsibilities include: - Project management, editing/rewriting, preparing and overseeing design and production of Forest Research publications
- Production of corporate/statutory publications, such as the Forest Research Annual Report & Accounts
- Production of Forest Research newsletter
- Assisting Forest Research authors with written communications and visual image/presentation
- Liaison with Forestry Commission Communications Section, particularly Publishing Editor
- Liaison with Forest Research Webmaster on suitable communications
- Promotion of already published or forthcoming publications
- Owner of Forest Research’s editorial/publishing Quality Assurance processes.
