Airborne laser scanning of woodlands: applications for forest structure and ecology

What was the event?

This talk focused on airborne laser scanning (or LiDAR) data and also considered integration with airborne multispectral data and with ground-based laser scanning data as well.
 
This was entirely in the context of woodlands, firstly looking at characterising woodland structure (e.g. accuracy of canopy height measurements, canopy percentage cover, canopy density, understorey modelling, etc), and secondly modelling habitat quality for woodland birds (based on territories, breeding success, and daily energy expenditure).

The talk was given by Dr Ross Hill (reader in Geoinformatics at Bournemouth).
