Control of invasive Rhododendron ponticum
Wednesday 25th October 2006 What was the event?
A one-day workshop aimed at providing practical solutions to the eradication of the invasive weed species Rhododendron ponticum. The indoor morning session consisted of several presentations covering a range of practical control issues and experiences from large scale operations. After lunch a series of demonstrations of correct application technique preceded a walk round an area of invaded woodland with a range of bush types and sizes. Discussion covered operational considerations and planning an eradication programme, plus consideration of restoration following successful clearance operations. The workshop was organised and run by Colin Edwards (Forest Research) and Rob Dewar (National Trust for Scotland). Event flyer (PDF-47k)
