Energy production on the farm
8th March 2006 What was the event?This event was one in a series that ADAS are running in the South West region. This open day aimed to describe and highlight the opportunities for renewable energy production from purpose grown energy crops. The event was funded by the Rural Development Service Farm Demonstration Programme. Speakers from Forest Research and ADAS gave presentations describing how to plant and manage short rotation coppice and miscanthus for fuel production. Experts from the Rural Development Service provided information on the grants available for energy crops. Alick Barnes, the site owner, demonstrated his woodfuelled boiler and described his experiences of ‘on farm energy production’. Further details and timetable (PDF-86K)
