Alan Harrison, BSc, MSc
Programme Leader, Forest Management DivisionAlan obtained a BSc in forestry at Aberdeen University in 1979. He went on to work in the private sector, both overseas (Australia and Solomon Islands) and in the UK, before joining the Forestry Commission as a Forester in 1985. He worked in what is now part of Cowal & Trossachs FD on both forest management and timber production. He joined Forest Research in 1989 managing the nursery and associated experiments run from Bush Field Station at NRS. He transferred to his present position in 2003. He obtained an MSc (with distinction) in Forest Ecology and Management at Edinburgh University in 2006. Current roleProgramme Leader, Forest Management Division On part-time secondment to Forestry Commission Scotland until April 2009 as Project Manager developing a series of biomass trials.
