Using social research in planning and management

What was the event?

This is educational seminar was designed to support those who need to gather and use research information about people and their relations with forests and woodlands. It explored the need for good quality social research and discuss the specification, design, gathering and evaluation of high quality social research in cost effective ways.

Participants were given guidance towards further sources of support and information on social research and came away with an understanding of:

  • The importance of high quality information about people and society to forest management
  • How to review existing sources of research information
  • How to use simple and resource-effective research techniques
  • How to use outputs from research to inform forest management options.
