INVITATION TO TENDER FOR A LiDAR SURVEY OF IRONBRIDGE GORGE WORLD HERITAGE SITE AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Forest Research is inviting contractors to submit Tender documents to undertake an airborne LiDAR survey of part of the Telford, Wrekin and Shropshire border during early winter 2008/09, when broadleaf trees are devoid of leaf cover and the understorey vegetation is at a minimum.

Tenders are invited based on a potential survey of 34 square Km and with either 2 or 4 laser hits per square metre. Both options require to be priced. A laser footprint diameter of between 0.5m and 1.0m is required to maximise the likelihood of penetration to the forest floor.

The use of a waveform system is preferable and the contractor must be able to capture aerial photographs at the same time.

The survey will produce 3-dimensional, geo-referenced (British National Grid), point-cloud data in an ASCII, CSV, TXT or LAS format. Digital surface and terrain models are required as rasters in IMG format.

The invitation to tender document (ITT) can be downloaded as per attachment. This includes a full specification of the services plus general and specific requirements.

To apply

Download the attached ITT and send an e mail to peter.crow@forestry.gsi.gov.uk registering your intention to tender.

Completed tenders must be returned no later than 1pm on 24th November 2008 as instructed in the pack.  Any submissions returned after this time will not be considered.
