Technical Services - Ecological surveys
 

Monitoring vegetation change following cattle disturbanceEnvironmental accountability and a growing emphasis on conserving and enhancing the biodiversity value of woodlands are issues of increasing importance in the UK forestry industry.

Technical Services Unit (TSU) offers a range of services to meet customer requirements for ecological surveys including:

  • National Vegetation Classification
  • Environmental Site Classification
  • Soil and site surveys
  • ForestGALES
  • Habitat surveys, mapping and monitoring
  • Species surveys
  • Natural regeneration survey and monitoring
  • Native Woodland Surveys.

Staff at each of our national network of field stations have extensive experience in:

  • General botanical identification and survey techniques
  • Habitat survey and mapping methods.

Surveyors are trained in the use of advanced data capture and transfer technology.
